ADVANCED TECHNIQUE SECRETS FOR LEVEL 2 DANCERS ... ON UP THRU WSDC-INTERMED*
TUESDAYS, May 13 + 20 + 27, 7:00–9:00 pm (or 9:20 if you've got the stamina)

The key to excellent WCS is mastering the PARTNERED MOVEMENT FLOW, almost as a single continuous brushstroke. Once you can do this, everything in WCS falls into place infinitely easier – including all the fancier patterns and styling options. You can memorize less, dance more. The key: a few simple — but staggeringly effective! — technique secrets that are usually reserved for WSDC-Advanced private lessons. But we can and should learn them early!* Because they make you so good so fast! That's what you'll learn in these 3 workshops.  Both "within your body" and "between bodies" technique skills.

We'll focus on deeper "universal" technique skills where each one solves 50 problems. Instead of memorizing 50 separate mini-specific technique tips for every different situation. Bonus: plus a few highly specific ones, because that's fun too.

*(Most WSDC-Intermed dancers around here only know 1/3 of these. Get 'em now! Note: We won't overlap with Royston's classes.)

We'll add WCS's "Master Recipe" (the 4 'lego' building blocks we use to build every move). And voilà! You are awesome!

One weird bonus: This makes learning all the patterns so easy that it's almost embarrassing. So these workshops are the perfect adjunct to your regular classes.

Three intensive Tuesday workshops ... just before the May 30 Flow Fridays
Week 1 (May 13): Cornerstone Advanced Skills for Level 2-ish Dancers on Up. Minimal effort, maximum awesome payoff! Includes the 4 "lego" blocks that construct every WCS pattern — understanding this is a magical transformative skill all by itself.
Week 2 (May 20): "Redirection" secrets: Linear & Rotational — Passes become Tucks, Wraps, Folds, & Whips.
Week 3 (May 27): Easy Squeezy Elasticity technique upgrades: Musicality to the max. Plus more patterns made easy.

*These workshops are designed to complement, enhance, and accelerate your progress with your other WCS teachers.*

We'll "simplify" by breaking down the key elements & techniques — all by itself, this will massively advance your WCS. Then we'll build on those skills to "complexify" the heck out of whatever. From basic to complex, you will be smoother, more advanced, more musical, more fun, and more adaptable on the fly than when you came in.
FYI: Our focus will always be on being a great and fun PARTNER, never on bashing & crashing through moves. If this means going a little slower & deeper so that we actually 'get it' and can really do it on the social dance floor (not just in class), so be it!

PREREQUISITE: You know 6-count structure and triple steps. You've tried Whips. You are willing to learn.
INSTRUCTOR: Ken Kreshtool. "The best instructor I've ever had in anything!" —Harvard Univ. students' comments, 6 years in a row, for his on-campus dance classes (while working on a PhD there).

• WCS's "Master Recipe": know it and use it
~ How to integrate Patterns into a single unified 'mental model'
• Dancing "from" lower core (hips) vs top line vs whole core: Which is better? What does it even mean? How does it affect connection and communication? Why is it important? How to do it? How to adapt to partners who do a different one?
• Maintaining balance while counterbalancing AND traveling AND turning AND styling
• The secrets of 'Single brushstroke' dancing vs lots of separate pieces
• They say "don't use your bicep" — what exactly to do instead?
• Truly continuous responsiveness (good WCS) vs guess-and-go (common but low quality)
• Elasticity? Exactly how?
• Following vs conversation vs hijacking – considerations for both Followers & Leaders – old-school vs current vs hybrid
• Exactly which part of your foot to move from, according to 2 top Pro Champions
• Ducks: All the top Pro Followers offer this same advice
• Should followers move backwards before coming forward on the "&-a-1"? How to do both "yes" and "no" at the same time (as explained by one of the world's top Pro followers)

Videos of Ken dancing with Paula Wilson, my long-time co-teacher. One dance is slower, smoother. One is a bit 'punchier.' These are 100% improvisational. We handed the DJ a list of 6 different songs and said, "please pick any one."

Thank you! We look forward to seeing you!
